U.S. Route 22 Expressway Improvement Project (22 Renew)

- The 70 million dollar reconstruction of an 8 mile U.S. 22, a 4 lane limited access expressway carrying 85,000 vehicles daily through the Lehigh Valley
- Improvements included modifying 5 interchanges, adding a Collector-Distributor between 2 interchanges
- Reconstructing/rehabilitating 12 bridges, constructing 4 MSE retaining walls
- Signalization of 8 intersections, deployment of ITS including Ramp Metering, Variable Message Signs and Highway Advisory Radio
- An extensive safety update including 26 Overhead Sign Structures, concrete Glare Screen and Interchange Lighting
- Recipient of numerous industry awards

- Air Force One parked on the recently completed concrete apron where MKA provided design and construction management services to Lehigh Valley International Airport
- MKA has provided professional services to Lehigh Valley International Airport, Queen City Airport and Braden Airpark
- Services have included traffic studies, surveying, design, construction management and inspection
- Projects have included runways, taxiways, fuel storage facilities, concrete aprons, hangars and electrical vaults.

- MKA performed bridge and track design for a total project length of 4260 feet that included 2 bridges
- Nesquehoning Junction Bridge over the Lehigh River is a 5-span, 500 foot open deck steel plate girder bridge constructed on a 6 degree curve
- Coalport Truss over Norfolk Southern Railroad is a simple span 136 foot Baltimore Truss on a 5 degree curve
- MKA established track geometry including spiral curves and track superelevation
- MKA also performed an in-depth inspection and rating of the Coalport Truss
- This project enabled RBM&N to provide a continuous connection from Reading to Scranton on its own tracks

Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor Trail
Lehigh, Carbon and Luzerne Counties, Pennsylvania |

- Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Trail is a 160+ mile long non-motorized trail
- Followed historic transportation routes from the anthracite coalfields in Carbon and Luzerne Counties to the industrial facilities of the Lehigh Valley
- MKA performed planning, surveying and mapping, environmental analysis including NEPA documentation, and right-of-way plans required for acquisition of 35 miles of trail
- The project was funded through the Intermodal Surface Transportation Equity Act (ISTEA)
