The $70 million dollar reconstruction of an 8 mile U.S. 22, a 4 lane limited access expressway carrying 85,000 vehicles daily through the Lehigh Valley. Improvements included modifying 5 interchanges, adding a Collector-Distributor between 2 interchanges, reconstructing/rehabilitating 12 bridges, constructing 4 MSE retaining walls, signalization of 8 Intersections, deployment of ITS including Ramp Metering, Variable Message Signs and Highway Advisory Radio, and extensive safety updates including 26 Overhead Sign Structures, Concrete Glare Screen and Interchange Lighting. This project was the recipient of the following awards:
